A Walk at Marbella Old Town

We stumbled upon this charming video of Marbella’s old town and we thought you would enjoy it!

Surrounded by old Arabic walls, the Casco Antiguo as it’s known in Spanish is made up of church squares, narrow white washed streets, emblematic historic buildings and plenty of captivating shops and boutiques.

You can also find here the Ermita del Santo Domingo on La Plaza del Santo Cristo, an ancient building which dates back to the 14th century.
At night, Marbella’s old town transforms into an electric hub where people come to dine, party or just have a relaxing walk. From charming balconies where you can just sip a glass of mojito while watching the world go by, to small yet lively bars and clubs to dance the night away, there is always a nook or another for you to enjoy.

Marbella’s old town is best experienced during the day when you can see the  colorful flowers everywhere as well as the orange trees adorning the streets.  For the night owls, the old town can be the best place to spend a relaxing, quiet evening with friends away from the massive crowd of Puerto Banus.

Marbella Holiday for the Whole Family

With the brilliant Marbella weather, one can always spend a wonderful holiday here with the whole family. In Marbella and the Costa Del Sol, there is always something to enjoy and discover for the kids and the parents.  From building sand castle on the beach, kart driving, mountain climbing, bowling, or just spending quality time over a nice hefty meal, Marbella has it all to make your family holidays truly memorable without the stress.

Here are some activities that your family can do while in Marbella:

Attractions

Enjoy a day out with the kids at the Crocodile Park, Fuengirola Biroparc, Sea Life, Aqualand, Funny Beach and the Tivoli World amongst others.  Almost all of these places have bilingual staff and do give out offers and discounts especially during the Summer Season.

You can also spend an afternoon strolling along the renowned port of Puerto Banus, home to fabulous yachts from all over the world. Shopping?  Take mom and the kids out in La Cañada shopping mall.  This commercial centre has a bowling alley and shows movies in English so the kids can have fun while mom indulges on her well deserved shopping!

Things to do

From whale watching to skiing, families have endless options when it comes to activities on the Costa Del Sol. The Tivoli Park offers cable car rides, taking guests onto the top of the mountain where they can have a meal overlooking the beautiful coast.  They also do eagle and birds show here which is a favourite amongst children.

Funny Beach offers kart driving and many other outdoor activities for kids. It is situated on the beach so everyone can have a dip on the water after a full pack adventure day.

Scuba diving, sailing and other kinds of watersports are also readily available for families. Tour operators can be found everywhere in the city of Marbella so you can easily arrange a trip to Gibraltar, Morocco, Seville, Sierra Nevada (Andalucia’s ski resort) and other places.

Dining

Take the kids out dining al fresco! Marbella and the Costa Del Sol have hundreds of chiringuitos (beach bars) to choose from.  Enjoy authentic tapas with your loved ones in many restaurants in the centre of Marbella or near the beaches.  Most places offer kids menu and are child friendly. Some of them also offer gluten-free food, if you wish.   Of course, McDonalds and other fast food chains can also be found in Marbella in case you miss your usual burger and fries.

Where to stay

Villas in Spain and apartments are usually the most popular option for family holidays in Marbella.  They are exclusive and private, with your own pool and staff if you wish.  Staying at villas in Spain can be as affordable as staying in a hotel especially if you come in a group. Most hotels in Marbella are packed and expensive especially during the Summer and Easter seasons so the best option is to stay somewhere away from the massive crowd and impersonal hotels.  Best of all, with renting a villa or apartment, you can have peace of mind and security for your whole family.

Marbella expects an influx of tourists during the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Weekend

Travolution.co.uk reports that the Brits prefer sunshine over patriotism as early June holiday search reveals a high percentage of bookings to Spain.

Villas in Spain particularly in Marbella area will be packed again during this short break as Spain and Malaga prove to be the top destination during the four day weekend on June 2-5, according to Dealchecker, a price comparison website.

Other flights to Spain which prove to be also popular in this weekend period include those bound to Faro, Alicante, Majorca, Tenerife, Bodrum and Ibiza.

With the prices of accommodations and flights to Spain proving to be more affordable than other major European destinations, UK travelers expect the Diamond Jubilee Weekend to be a holiday celebration under the sun.
